then I feel guilty...

As I read this book I realized that all the insights are relevant to obesity and to many other destructive or bad habits. As Einstein said, "When the solution is simple God is answering". This book spoke to me. I can totally relate. I've lost and gained more weight than a small army. I get now it now what I was missing. I am working on my issues, while I continue to slowly lose weight. I didn't gain weight over the holidays and I am not beating myself up about it. Dr. A explains the cycle I was in, and I am working on breaking it. Once you figure you why you gain weight you can stop repeating the mistakes. Dr. A talks to the reader in a way we can relate. He really gets it, because he went through this. If you struggle with your weight, you really owe it to yourself to read this book. It's a fast read and it will make a HUGE difference in your life for good. Thank you, Dr. A, for putting this out there. Happy to recommend your book to others. You've helped me a lot.
Finally, someone who gets it! This is a book that gets to the heart of the issue - WHY we keep gaining the weight back. This doctor writes in a conversational tone I could relate to. It's easy reading, and it frankly makes sense. We have to figure out the real issues that get us in the cycle that keeps us overweight. He's been there himself, just like I have, and he explains how to break out of that cycle for good. He talks about how we were conditioned as children to soothe our sorrows with food, and how as teens when we were stressed over a romantic breakup we would overeat, and in college we'd pig out during exams. He shows us how if we break the patterns that make us repeat the bad habits, we can get over the constant battle with the scale. I loved this book because it's so real. Diets do work for taking off weight, he says, but if you never fix the reasons you're overweight in the first place, you'll just gain the weight back and usually more. If you're like me and you're ready to lose weight, get this book and read it cover to cover. If you know someone else who is struggling with weight issues and you can buy it for them, do it.
